Poker is played by multiple players with a deck of 52 cards and chips that represent the money wagered, real or fictitious. The game alternates stages of card distribution and bidding. The objective is to win the sums bet by the other players by constituting the best possible combinations of cards .
With a 52-card deck the game is limited to 10 players. All the players take their places around a table and a token called a “dealer” designates the dealer. Poker is always played clockwise from the dealer.
The two players to the right of the dealer must bet a minimum to start the game, this bet is called “Blind” and “Double blind”. Each player then receives from the dealer 2 private cards, visible only to him. Then there are four betting rounds and in each round the players are asked to make a decision.
First betting round : you only know your two private cards and 5 cards are placed face down on the table.
Second round : you know your 5 cards, the two cards you have in your hand and 3 which are turned face up for all players.
Third turn : a fourth community card is turned over and revealed to all players.
Last turn : the last community card is revealed and the players know all the cards to make their combinations. At the end of this round, the players who have not left the game show their cards.
There are 4 betting rounds and at each of these stages you need to make a decision:
Checker : Do not bet anything but stay in the game, only possible if no other player has bet before you.
Bet : If you are the first to bet chips.
Call : Bet the same amount as the player who bet first to stay in the game.
Restart : go on about the current bet.
To fold : Abandon the part and the bets already put in the preceding rounds of bidding.
How do you play poker and learn to combine the right cards to get the best hands?
Poker is always played with 5 cards and many combinations are possible listed below in descending order:
Straight flush with the Ace : the highest combination whatever the variant of the poker game. It is composed of a suite of the same suit of the 5 highest cards like this: 10 ♥, J ♥, Q ♥, K ♥, A ♥
Straight or straight suit : sequence of 5 cards of the same suit like this: 6 ♠, 7 ♠, 8 ♠, 9 ♠, 10 ♠. If two players have a flush, the winner is the one with the most important card.
Square : combination of 4 cards of the same value and 1 other distinct card like this: 4 ♠, 4 ♦, 4 ♥, 4 ♣, Q ♠. If two players have a square, the winning hand is the one with the most important card.
Full : combination of a Three of a Kind and a Pair, i.e. 3 cards of the same value and 2 other cards of the same value as here: 4 ♠, 4 ♠, 4 ♠, K ♣, K ♣. If two players have a Full, the winning hand is the one with the most important card.
Color : combination of 5 cards of different value and of the same suit as here: 6 ♦, 2 ♦, J ♦, 3 ♦, K ♦. The winning hand is the one with the most important card if two players have a flush.
Continuation : combination of 5 consecutive cards, of different suits as here: 8 ♣, 9 ♠, 10 ♥, J ♣, Q ♦. The winning hand is the one with the most important card if two players are straight.
Example: K ♠, K ♥, K ♦, 7 ♠, A ♣. The winning hand is the one with the most important card if two players have a set.
Double Pair : this is a hand made up of 2 Pairs and 1 other different card like here: 2 ♠, 2 ♣, 10 ♥, 10 ♦, 5 ♥. Again, the winning hand is the one with the most important card if two players have double pair.
Pair : combination of 5 cards of which only 2 cards have the same face value, as here: A ♥, A ♠, 3 ♣, K ♠, 6 ♦. The winning hand is the one with the most important card if two players have a pair but if two players have an equal pair, the value of the third card determines the winner or that of the fourth or fifth card if there is still equality.
Highest card : if neither player obtains a combination, the winning hand is the one with the most important card.
